World Language Education (WLE) was founded in 2023 by leaders Aviv Getz and Jin Roe
Ever since they were little, Aviv and Jin bonded over their passion for languages. They taught each other their native languages, soon realizing that language can serve as a bridge connecting people, cultures, and experiences. Accompanying each other in Spanish class throughout middle school and high school, they have grown their passion and interest in language learning.
Their enthusiasm for language learning was faced with an obstacle when budget cuts in their school district eliminated a year of foreign language instruction. This decision was especially painful in their diverse community, where many families speak multiple languages and value cultural connection. They both also had younger siblings who were directly affected by this change, and knowing how much language learning has impacted them positively, they could not let this loss go unaddressed.
So in 2023, they launched an initiative to connect students who speak a language with younger students eager to learn. Through one-on-one lessons, they created a safe, accessible space for practicing languages with native or proficient speakers. What began as a local effort has expanded to a wider, more global range offering lessons in over 15 languages.
Our organization has become more than a platform for language learning; it’s a global community fostering empathy and cross-cultural awareness. We are not just teaching grammar or vocabulary—we are breaking barriers and cultivating connections for the future.
